The Park Bench assistant is an AI-powered chat interface that helps you manage your family calendar through natural conversation. You don't need to learn specific commands — just type what you need.
Adding events
Tell the assistant about an event and it will add it to your calendar:
- "Add Emma's dentist appointment on Thursday at 3pm"
- "Soccer practice every Tuesday and Thursday at 4pm starting next week"
- "We have a birthday party at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday from 2-5pm"
The assistant handles recurring events, specific times, and locations.
Editing events
Reference an existing event to change it:
- "Move soccer practice to 4:30 this week"
- "Cancel the dentist appointment on Thursday"
- "Change the birthday party to Sunday instead"
Searching your calendar
Ask about your schedule and the assistant will look it up:
- "What do we have this weekend?"
- "When is Emma's next dentist appointment?"
- "Are we free on March 15th?"
Uploading event flyers
Take a photo of a school flyer, community event poster, or any event information and send it in the chat. The assistant will read it and offer to add the event to your calendar.
What it remembers
The assistant learns your family's preferences over time. If you mention that your kids love dinosaurs, or that you prefer indoor activities on rainy days, it will remember and use that context in future conversations. You can manage what the assistant remembers in Settings > Memory.
Tips for best results
- Be specific with dates — "next Tuesday" works better than "sometime next week"
- Include times — The assistant will ask if you forget, but including times upfront is faster
- Name your children — "Emma's recital" is more useful than "the recital" for keeping events organized
- Correct it — If the assistant gets something wrong, just tell it. It will learn from corrections.
