How calendar sync works

What syncs, how often, and what to expect.

Park Bench offers two ways to connect your calendar to other apps: Google Calendar two-way sync and ICS feed subscriptions.

Google Calendar (two-way)

When you connect Google Calendar, events flow in both directions:

  • Events you create in Park Bench appear in Google Calendar
  • Events from your Google Calendar appear in Park Bench
  • Edits and deletions sync in both directions

Sync timing:

  • Changes are usually reflected within seconds
  • You can trigger a manual sync anytime from Settings > Calendar Sync

What syncs: Event titles, times, locations, descriptions, and recurrence patterns from your primary Google Calendar.

ICS feed (one-way, read-only)

The ICS feed lets any calendar app subscribe to events created in Park Bench. Events flow one direction: from Park Bench to the subscribing app.

What's included: Events you create in Park Bench — manually or through the chat assistant. Events imported from Google Calendar are not included in the ICS feed, since they already exist in your connected calendar.

Sync timing: The subscribing app (Apple Calendar, Outlook, etc.) checks for updates on its own schedule — typically every few hours.

What doesn't sync

  • Events on secondary or shared Google Calendars (only your primary calendar syncs)
  • Events imported from external calendars are not re-exported via the ICS feed
  • Event colors or categories
  • Attendees or RSVPs
  • Google Calendar reminders (Park Bench has its own notification system)
