Park Bench pulls events from over 76 sources across New York City. We scan these sources regularly to find family-friendly activities, classes, and events.
Types of sources
Parks & recreation — NYC Parks Department events, playground programs, nature centers, recreation centers, and outdoor activities across all five boroughs.
Museums & cultural institutions — Family programs at institutions like the American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Museum, MoMA, New-York Historical Society, and many others.
Libraries — NYPL, Brooklyn Public Library, and Queens Public Library children's programs, story times, and workshops.
Community organizations — Local nonprofits, community centers, and neighborhood organizations that run family programming.
Schools & education — Public school events, after-school programs, and educational workshops.
How events get into Park Bench
We regularly scan public event listings from these sources and add them to our database. Events are organized by location, date, age range, and cost so the recommendation engine can match them to your family.
Accuracy
Event details come from public sources and can occasionally change after we collect them. Always verify important details (especially registration deadlines and ticket availability) with the venue or organizer directly.
